012374 Abortion foes take protest to Capital
Four busloads of Westchester Right-to-Life supporters, joined Tuesday's mass
march on Washington calling for a new Human Rights Amendment banning abortion.
"It was magnificent," said Audrey Kelly of New Rochelle, a member of the county
Right to-Life Committee' "There were 400 buses according to the police, 70 from New York.
And 19,000 roses - the symbol f of life - were sent to congressmen by people Who could I not be there."
The crowd heard Sen. James Buckley R-New York, call from the steps of the Capitol, for public
pressure on congressmen to force the committee discharge of the anti-abortion
constitutional amendment he has Proposed.
"It's a great day for th4e cause of American morality, he said grimly according
to Mrs. Kelly, "The born and the unborn are beingsubjected to a
new medical ethic in which they can be destroyed for social and economic reasons-"
"We also' met with (Sen. Jacob) J a v i t S and (Rep. Ogden) Reid, neither of whom are pro-us,' Mrs. Kelly said.
The Westchester delegation, which left the county around 9 a.m.,included two buses from Yonkers, one from Peekskill
and one from White Plains.
