090578 Two object to Rothstein honor
One of our leading national magazines, in a recent issue, counsels the pro- and anti- abortionists to "keep in cool!" So. let us ''coolly" talk over a few fundamental issues in a reasonable and humane manner:
l. Can we deny that a human life exists at conception in the face of overwhelming medical-scientific evidence? Did you happen to see on TV "The Miracle Months" with the startling first time photographic and documentary evidence of a human fetus, with all its organs functioning in the first seven days after conception? The rapid gestation of the child from embryo to a complete, fully formed baby in various stages of development was remarks. b!e. Even though it is a distinct anu separate individual, with it's own blood. heart, brain and all its organs, it completely depends on the mother through the umbilical cord and the security of the mother's womb.
2. How can it not be murder to kill this developing baby? Murder is defined as forcibly terminating the life of another human person.
3. What could possibly justify such killing of a completely helpless child? Is inconvenience, expediency or the opinion that it is "unwanted" sufficient reason? If such reasons are justifiable, let us be careful. This same reasoning might apply "justifiably" to you if you are old, crippled or just chronically ill, or it might be nice and practical to get your inheritance now, etc.!
Polly Rothstein, who did so much to influence national and state legislators to vote pro-abortion, is honored by nine organizations and our County Executive Alfred DelBello and three lady state senators, who obviously agree with her crusading "cause."
Her cause is that a woman has a -right to choose." The choice - let us call it what it is - murder, or the right to live. They would graciously allow her the right to have her baby born and let some loving people (many of whom have been waiting and praying many years) adopt and love this child! If we recognize this as a choice to kill or let live as a choice, on what reasonable grounds do we condemn Hitler?
We are "cause persons," too! Our cause is to recognize and speak up for the Divinely endowed right of the "gift of life."
