101578 Annilies Lengers Letter commenting on WCLA PAC

To the Editor:

In an article which appeared recently in the Westchester-Rockland papers, the Political Action Committee of the Westchester Coalition for legal Abortion tabulated the name of candidates seeking office, rating favorably those they considered "pro-choice" In regard to abortion. In the minds of those who prepared the ratings, "pro-choice" means that women are free to employ an abortionist to terminate the lives of their unborn children. In this concept of "pro- or free-choice" an individual denies that some actions are imprudent; that others are wrong, legally or morally. To use a farfetched examples a licensed pilot, who is angry with the world, may rent a plane and deliberately ram a large passenger plane so the wreckage is scattered over the Times Square area at midnight on New Years eve. Few would condone the pilot's "free choice" in this hypothetical case. This act would be a "oneshot" affair maiming or killing at most a few thousand people.

Those candidates who signified that they supported "pro-choice" and who, therefore, were "recommended" by the Westchester Coalition for Legal Abortion will participate in program which cause the deaths of 3,400 children a day--ace million a year. These killings are carried an year after year. Thos voters who support these "recommended" candidates should understand that they are willing participants in the destruction of these Innocent and helpless children.

"The government should remain neutral in a woman's decision of whether or when to bear a child..." states Ms. Rothstein. Pro-lifers are not asking the government to dictate to women whether or when they my bear a child. They do ask the government to do what it is supposed to do-to protect the lives of those children who have been conceived. No rational reason can be advanced for excluding  them from its protection.
