103178 Response to Jennie a mis-informed Catholic advocates the brutal killing of unborn children
Dear Jennie,
In one of your letters to the Editor you professed to be a Catholic, and invited people to write to you to be enlightened in matters pertaining to killing children in the womb and the appropriateness of paying out of tax monies the one doing the killing. Here are three excerpts taken from the Catholic papers for the weekend of October 29, 1978. You may find the information they contain of some value.
"Many who call themselves "Catholic" think they can ignore the authority which Jesus vested in Peter. These follow the opinions of rebel theologians, psychologists, and sociologists who attempt to change the Gospel and doctrines of faith and morals.
"It is no secret that millions of Catholics became confused. Many fell seeking an easier social Gospel without a Cross, without restraint, without penance. Many thought that they could develop a faith and morals according to their own values of the world and then enthroned conscience as their god. They forgot that a sincere Catholic must form a correct conscience according to the teachings of Jesus and the authority He vested in His Church with Peter as visible head saying, 'Upon this rock I will build my Church...' and 'I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven ...' and 'He who hears you, hears Me, and he who rejects you, rejects Me; and he who rejects Me, rejects Him Who sent Me.'
"It was said that Pope John Paul I died before he could settle the controversies of the Church on artificial birth control, and abortion ...
I had never realized there was any such controversy. These matters have been settled but for some who call themselves "Catholic" the answer "No" is no answer. Their problem is that they cannot accept the authority that Jesus Christ has placed in this world to pastor his universal flock."
The second author who objected to Planned Parenthood's use of words said, "words are, after all, my business. I respect them, treasure them, treat them most carefully, as is proper with such important tools of our social life.
"Once in a while the pro-abortionists are honest as was the defense attorney in the trial of Dr. William Waddill last spring.
"Dr. Waddill, was the California physician who was on trial for allegedly strangling to death a newborn baby girl who had survived a saline abortion attempt.
"When the jury was being chosen, the defense attorney reminded them they would be looking at an abortion. In a rare moment of the honest use of language, he went on, 'What it is, is killing a baby, but today this is permitted by law'."
The author of the article continued, "What do you think would happen to the abortion clinic business if their ads read, 'Have your baby killed cheaply and quickly?' or 'The newest baby-killing clinic in town?' The abortionists would be out of business. Words are that important."
As another example of misuse of words, the author quoted a YWCA director as saying, *We have never said we were pro-abortion. However, we have always been very much in favor of women choosing for themselves in this matter.'
"The abuse of the words becomes obvious when we change the subject to husband-shooting instead of unborn-baby-killing.
"We have never said we were pro-husband-killing. However we have always been very much in favor of women choosing for themselves in this matter."
The author of the third article was talking about "Gays", but the principle he was stressing can be applied to pro-abortionists as well.
"What then about forgiveness? Our Lord forgave sinners. Yes, He showed marvelous mercy--BUT--there is no record that He ever forgave a sinner who did not repent. In fact, if a sinner dies without repenting, he will never be forgiven-never. That is why hell is eternal. So we must not let mushy headed bleeding hearts con us into thinking we must pardon practicing (abortionists). Yes, forgive them if they repent. Otherwise, imitate Our Lord's refusal of forgiveness to the unrepentent."
A few comments of my own: -- Those who wish to play on the Yankee's team must obey the directions of the manager. Those who refuse are suspended, if the matter is minor. They are dismissed if the matter is serious.
Those who profess to be "Catholic" must obey the teachings of the Church. Those who refuse to obey in a serious matter separate themselves from the Church. Christ had very harsh words for those who deliberately mislead others.
