STIRRING THE POT AT MT. SINAI: A public airing of post-abortion issues
Theresa Bonopartis sent the following (edited) e-mail to the other Co-directors of the HVCL. Theresa was invited to speak at Mount Sinai by a medical student who heard a previous talk Theresa gave at Columbia University.
I gave a talk at Mt. Sinai Medical School last night. One of the doctors (pro abortion) came as well as some pro-abort women.
It. was quite a night. First of all I had a hard time just getting there ... so many obstacles were put in my way. It was obvious that "someone" did not want me there. I got there about 3 minutes before I was going to speak. The talk went well but after my talk the doctor wanted to speak from her "clinical" experience.
She proceeded to say how every woman should have the right to choose. How saline abortions are not done anymore and that they have found a more compassionate way of doing abortions (meaning D&X) although she did not say what D&X was...etc, etc. She said in the days I had my abortion, women were left to themselves but now they are taken care of. (I will have to tell that to the women I work with. They must have missed it.)
God gave me great grace. I interjected as she spoke:
"Yes, they do not do salines anymore because so many women died. A saline abortion actually burns a baby to death. A D&X tears a child apart piece by piece...I am not sure if I would consider that compassionate. I am not here to debate abortion's legality but to speak about women and men who are suffering and have been harmed by abortion... Women should know all the facts and dangers ... we are told they need to make their own decisions and yet Right to Know Legislation is continually blocked by the pro abortion groups."
In the end, she could not deny my experience or what I had seen during my own abortion, and that made her angry. I also talked about women dying now and how I was always concerned about the pro aborts silence when it came to that (I had examples). I also mentioned the "March for Women's Lives" and the parties NARAL said they are now having across the country ... and even if they think it ok to abort, is it something we party about???
In the end I found out that the doctor present is a member of "Mt. Sinai Students for Choice."
Were any hearts changed? Only God knows, but I do know through His grace the truth was spoken that night ... the rest is up to Him.
