7 Mission Statement The Women's Equality Day (Reformed) Committee seeks to commemorate annually on August 26`6 the ratification of the 19`h Amendment to the J.5. Constitution, the granting of voting freedom to women. W e will gather to celebrate our feminist foremothers who spoke clearly in defense of the dignity of women and for the child in the womb. In the spirit of true equality we will celebrate with and for women of all voting persuasions. fittingly, we now honor pro-life women of outstanding civic and personal achievement denied formal recognition in Westchester County on this truly auspicious American occasion.I The 2004 August 26th celebration of Women's Equality Day (Reformed) is gearing up! This event is hosted by a pro-life contingent and co-sponsored by your Hudson Valley Coalition for Life. Since April, citizens have been appealing again to the County Board of Legislators at their White Plains meetings for use of the Rotunda space on the 8u' floor of the Michaelian Building for the dignified hour-and-a-half ceremony. Last year it took the threat of a court injunction to open the doors to pro-life sponsorship of this event. No new rules exist at this time and to keep us out, our Legislators are considering a Resolution limiting or restricting the public entirely from their "work space". Please contact your Legislator (see list below) to vote against this Resolution and request his or her support for citizens and Women's Equality Day (Reformed) on August 26!2004 Westchester County Legislators The Honorable 800 Michaelian Office Building 148 Martine Avenue White Plains, New York 10601 Phone: (914) 995-2800
