MEET THE BAUMANN SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS SCHOOLS |
Who's in charge here? (BRUCE DENNIS) Joanne Vale goes over a few of the administrative details with Eamon Fernandez.
061303 Eamon Fernandez named principal for day Each year for the past 10 years, a student at Bedford Village Elementary School has gotten the opportunity to be "Principal for the Day" as either an auction or raffle prize to earn money for the school. (Although the budget is over $80 Million Dollars they always cry poor mouth.) This year Eamon Fernandez won the title in a raffle at the winter carnival in March. He collected his "winnings" on Monday by stepping into the role of principal. Mrs. Vale, who currently holds the position, served as his assistant and accompanied him on his rounds. It was a very busy day for Eamon as he made announcements on the PA system, walked the hallways, visited classrooms, supervised lunch and recess, and declared "no homework" far the day in grades two through five. Students cheered his decision, arid he immediately earned double thumbs-up for this decree. When asked, mid-morning, what the most challenging part of his job was to that point, Eamon said, "Making the announcements over the loudspeaker and making so many different decisions."
