This election was the most worried over and frantic for the Bedford School District Bureaucracy, they had a lot to lose... Potentially $160 MILLION DOLLARS!
Imagine...They had to SELL a $70 MILLION DOLLAR budget! Not an easy thing these days. Especially when Academic scores are in the toilet. You may have noticed they never mentioned the Budget Total $70 MILLION at all.
They had all these "Soccer Moms" and "Boosters" and employees who feverishly putting up Teacher Union paid for signs, set up phone trees and the like. Just like we did.
But what was different as usual were the tactics. Here they were particularly DIRTY. They slandered candidates with the "Fanatic", "Extremist" brushes. They utilized their most fervent allies the newspapers to do that work.
They had the man (and a lot of women) power as well as machines, telephones etc. to get out THEIR vote.
