050395Don't be Fooled
If you believe everything you read about the
Bedford Central Schools, you could hurt our
children, and yourselves!!!!
Opposition School Board candidates are circulating literature that is designed to discredit our schools just to get your vote. Irresponsible use of news quotes and budget statistics create an atmosphere of distrust and a lack of confidence in our schools. These critics are promising to fix everything .... but, of course, they don't say how. When it comes to paying taxes, it's easy to fall for empty rhetoric. But what about the truth?
REALITY CHECK:
• Bedford Central Schools are among the finest In the country
• Our 1994-95 true value tax rate (comparison to other districts) Is the fourth lowest In Westchester - out of 46 districts
• 92% of graduating seniors go on to college
• Our teachers continually win awards and are nationally recognized
• Our school board members are experienced, hard-working and dedicated
• The current school board, In Its proposed budget, has shown unprecedented consideration for taxpayer and community concerns - financial and academic..
• Administrative and teacher salaries reward excellence and are competitive with neighboring districts
• High quality schools need financial support from the community. The rewards are great - for our children and ourselves.
• Tenure and teacher contract negotiations are controlled by NY State mandates - local school board members cannot change state rules
Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes!
