Close, the Reeves rally Saturday in Bedford Village for bond They are known for using their celebrity to draw attention to numerous international causes, but this weekend Glenn Close and Dana and Christopher Reeve will be hard at work for the benefit of their own home town. These three local celebrities will host a rally at Historical Hall in Bedford Village this Saturday, Jan. 11, at 4:30 p.m., to provide information and support for the Bedford Central School Bond Referendum. Speaking at the rally will be Ms. Close, Mr. and Mrs. Reeve, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and P. Daniel Hollis III, chairman of the Citizens' Facilities Advisory Committee. Also in attendance will be members of the Bedford Needs to Bond, a community group comprised of parents and citizens who are in support of passing the Bedford school bond. The bond, which town residents will vote on Jan. 15, will put $17.8 million into repairing existing schools, taking care of large-scale projects such as major overhauls to mechanical systems, upgrades of electrical service and extensive site work. The bond will also add additional classrooms, expand educational services and bring all buildings up to the code guidelines set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). "We chose this Historical hall location specifically for its historic significance," said Ms. Close. "This town was built by people who came here to take care of their children, and we are here to continue that charge and take care of our children here in Bedford."
