03-02-2001 Bedford budget 'bloated'
To the Editor:
"From a public relations standpoint, messages have to be repeated and they have to be tight."
Keep in mind this November 1997 [Bruce Dennis quotation when reading "public relations" letters from undisclosed PTA leaders like (Deborah Friedland's published [in The
Record Review, Feb. 91.
The PR looms are busy spinning tales of how different education was back in the dark ages of the 1970's to justify adding millions of new debt to an already bloated budget.
That the course load in the 1970's may differ with today is not as relevant as may appear. How 1,500-plus students and teachers utilized the existing space is the issue.
But I'm told by the administration that no such records exist. Coupled with Mrs. Friedland's effusive and predictable appeal to the Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee's hard work and dedication, I remain unconvinced and suspicious of this entire process.
Against this PR machine, I continue to applaud The Record-Review for providing this valuable forum.
