030300 Pajama Day at PRES

Kindergarten and fifth grade teachers and principal Roseann Needleman take part in "P" Week at Pound Ridge Elementary School.

Fifth grade buddy Lorena Pecora reads to her two kindergarten charges during "P" Week at Pound Ridge elementary School.

Tuesday was the day of the "ever-traditional, always popular, much-loved, annual pajama party for kindergartners and their fifth grade buddies at Pound Ridge Elementary School," said Pat Bennett, an always popular, much-loved kindergarten teacher there.

And so began "P" week for the youngest segment of the school population. Learning each letter in the alphabet is almost a year-long project for the kindergartners. But time is not an issue, especially when `pizza,' which luckily starts with `p,' is the lunch fare being delivered by Moonstruck Pizza.

As another fun aspect of "P" week, kindergartners brought their favorite bedtime stories for their fifth grade buddies to read to them as they snacked on cookies and milk (or should that be pookies and pilk?). A special guest — school principal Roseann Needleman — read "Ira Sleeps Over" to the group while dressed to the hilt in her bathrobe and slippers, as were the kindergarten teachers and aides.
