To the Editor:
I would like to see the public trust of the K-L school board brought back to our community. Bruce Pavalow, I believe, has the capability and the integrity to accomplish this. Responsiveness to the community's questions and accountability for expenditures is essential for this trust to return. He has demonstrated his commitment to open communication for the school district by developing an online question-andanswer forum at his site, Lewisboro Online, and presented those questions to the board during the public forum at school board meetings. He is an information-technology consultant and has been able to identify waste and inefficiencies, such as the public relations consultant for the school board and the lack of implementation programs and teacher training prior to purchasing technology. His expertise in IT is a much needed asset to our school district.
Bruce Pavalow has shown his commitment to the children through volunteering his time and knowledge at several school programs and functions. He currently has three school age children. It was a pleasure to work with him on Science Olympiad. His enthusiasm and energy for the kids was phenomenal. He was responsible for informing the media and subsequently publishing the outstanding performance of the Science Olympiad team. It is my opinion that all accomplishments should receive equal public acknowledgment and not be dominated solely by sports.
He has demonstrated his ability to get people to work together for a common goal, as evidenced by his success of Lewisboro Online. He started Lewisboro Online from the ground up to provide a service to the community as well as service for the school district, at a minimal cost. I have had the opportunity to discuss many issues concerning the district with Bruce and have found him to be receptive, responsive, and understanding of my concerns. A common theme that has always characterized our conversations has been his commitment and devotion to the needs of the children.
Trust is based on accountability, integrity, and open communication. Bruce Pavalow has demonstrated these qualities. I hope to see him elected and trust brought back to our school board and our tax dollars maximized for the children.
