MEET THE BAUMANN SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS SCHOOLS |
050704 Donna Walsh is right person for Katonah-Lewisboro board To the Editor: Katonah-Lewisboro School District I am highly in favor of having Donna Walsh re-elected to the board of education in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District. I view her as someone who will exert a tremendous effort in general, as well as toward unifying the six schools across our very widespread district. This is apparent in her deep involvement with numerous district-wide committees.
First, since I will soon have a child in the middle school, I am extremely grateful to Donna Walsh for her accomplishments on the start-time committee. She helped pull together i task force that analyzed significant research, resulting in a transition from triple-tripping to double-tripping bus service. Clearly this is in the students' best interest, enabling them ~to get more necessary rest and eliminating their wait for buses in the very early and dark hours of the morning. Donna Walsh also devotes her time to the safety committee, an ongoing initiative that is crucial in these tentative times. This project was originally established in response to Columbine, in order to ensure that all protective factors were in place throughout the district and that nothing like Columbine would ever happen here. With two, and soon to be three, children attending Katonah-Lewisboro schools, I wholeheartedly applaud Donna Walsh's contributions in this regard. The construction committee also includes Donna Walsh as one of its members. Here she assists in overseeing a $28 million construction bond through which additions and renovations to all six schools are funded and monitored. Donna illustrates her sincere caring and concern through her commitment to the character-education committee, as well. This is such an important program to me, whereby our schools do not just focus on the minds of our children but also their hearts, thereby developing their ability to be kind and respectful toward themselves and others. Donna Walsh has come up through the ranks, having contributed years of hard work, time, and dedication in order to protect our children and enhance their experience at all stages of their educational journey. She is a mom, a mom like me who can understand my issues and concerns in a way that the other candidate cannot. It is so easy for me to make a decision about whom I want to take over Donna Walsh's seat on the board of education - that is, none other than Donna Walsh. e |
