MEET THE BAUMANN SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS SCHOOLS |
062003 The personal battles against school administration are unfounded To the Editor: We were very sorry to learn that all three propositions in the school budget were voted down on June 3. We were particularly frustrated to learn that that some who campaigned against the budget did so not because they thought the budget increases were unreasonable but because of the "astounding arrogance of the school administration from Dr. Lichtenfeld on down." We believe that comments like this lack merit and are totally unhelpful to the budget process. In our experience we have found Dr. Lichtenfeld to be very responsive to the needs and concerns of the community. Recently, we had some questions about the scheduling of events in the elementary school calendar and articulated these concerns in a letter to Dr. Lichtenfeld. Dr. Lichtenfeld not only responded to each of our concerns and suggestions in writing but did so within 48 hours of receiving our letter. As taxpayers we were impressed that our concerns about this seemingly minor topic were addressed so promptly and diligently. We urge voters to recognize that this budget represents the lowest tax increase in nine years and is among the lowest increases in the county. We also urge residents, to examine the issues carefully before rushing to judgment about higher taxes.
